India Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Sports Systems at Commonwealth Sports Ministers Meeting
India has reaffirmed its commitment to safe, inclusive, and equitable sports systems at the Commonwealth Sports Ministers Meeting in Glasgow. Dr Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted governance reforms, anti-doping measures, Khelo India, Fit India, ASMITA League, athlete welfare, women’s participation, and India’s bid to host the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
Dr Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted India’s ongoing governance reforms, robust anti-doping framework, and major sports development initiatives aimed at creating a stronger sporting ecosystem. He underlined the role of flagship programmes including Khelo India, Fit India, and the ASMITA League in identifying and nurturing grassroots talent, encouraging wider participation, and supporting the growth of sports across the country.
The Minister stated that these initiatives are helping empower greater participation of women in sports while fostering a vibrant and inclusive sporting culture. He emphasized India’s focus on developing systems that ensure fair opportunities, athlete protection, and sustainable growth within the sports sector.
During the meeting, Dr Mandaviya also reaffirmed India’s bid to host the 2030 Centenary Commonwealth Games. He stated that Ahmedabad is fully prepared to organize a historic, sustainable, and memorable edition of the Games, reflecting India’s capabilities in delivering a globally significant sporting event.
